The Young Enterprise Mission Statement

“To build a connected world of young people, business volunteers and educators, inspiring each other to succeed through enterprise”.

Vision

“That all young people will have the opportunity to gain personal experience of how business works, understand the role it plays in providing employment and creating prosperity, and be inspired to improve their own prospects, and the competitiveness of the UK”.

What are the Young Enterprise programmes?

Based upon the principle of ‘learning by doing’ all Young Enterprise programmes involve practical hands-on activities, led by a volunteer who works alongside teachers using specialised Young Enterprise materials.

The Company and Team Programmes

A volunteer Business Adviser works with a small group of secondary school students from a range of backgrounds. Using support material supplied by YE the volunteer helps them to set up and run their own business. They select a Board of Directors from amongst their peers, raise share capital to finance their business, and then market and sell their product or service. At the end of the academic year, the Adviser will guide the ‘Directors’ through the process of liquidating the company and presenting an annual report and a set of accounts.

Who are the Central South Area Board

Young Enterprise (YE) is a charity set up in the UK in 1963, initially with one centre in Chatham Kent and now with 12 autonomous Regional organisations.
The YE London Regional organisation contains five London regions and we are the Board for the Central South area. We have elected to make ourselves responsible for ensuring that the participants in the YE Company programme in Southwark, Lambeth and Wandsworth have all of the resources and assistance that they need in order to achieve successful programmes.
