My aim is to help you 'listen' to your body, to become more body aware and to make small changes that will achieve huge results.
About me
I am Jennifer Knowles and I've been teaching Pilates since I graduated from UEL in 2006.
Studying Complementary Therapy has given me a broad range of knowledge including Pilates mat-work, massage and nutrition.
Although I am not a nutritional therapist I strongly believe that we can optimise our health through eating more raw food; food loaded with vitamins and enzymes that are our life force.
It is suggested that a good balanced diet is about 70% raw and 30% cooked and there are many wonderful talented teachers and books to help you understand this concept.
Look at my healthy you page for more information and my reading recommendations.
Indulge in great tasting food and drinks, feel the energising effects and get more out of your life. Take a look at my recipe page for inspiration and please email me feedback on recipes that you try.
I have always been involved with sport, dance and group exercises. My passion for dancing started at a very early age and I vividly remember my nerves before each judged performance. Although I do not dance professionally, dance and movement is still an important part of my life and you will find me on a dance floor at every opportunity. I love the freedom that I feel when I'm in control of my body and I hope I can impart some of this passion to you during my lessons.
Pilates has completely changed my life and transformed my posture and muscle tone. Although I have always been involved with physical exercise I was unaware of my posture and how my body functions. Poor posture, bad habits, accidents and even sleeping can affect our spines’ natural curves and skeletal alignment. Muscles will either shorten or lengthen causing postural faults, muscle misalignment and inevitably pain and arthritis.
During my studies my excitement grew day by day as I discovered how, through pilates and good postural habits, we can re-align and take control of our bodies and health. Exercise and good nutrition are two valuable assets in our lives and I hope that you will give me the chance to guide you towards physical freedom. Pilates not only tones and sculpts your body, you will also experience calmness and feel deeply relaxed.
Many people spend their lives in a stressful state day in and day out as the world 'turns up the volume'. Pilates allows you to tune into your body and become more body and mind aware, it turns the volume down and allows you to identify any areas of your life and body that need a little tweaking.
Freedom of movement, less pain, more flexibility and fun are my driving forces and the reasons why I wanted to become Pilates Instructor.
One of the joys of being a Pilates teacher is watching how clients become more aware of their bodies, how excited they become when they start to notice the strength beginning to build in their bodies.
